The spatial planning is simple, with bedrooms at each end and a generous hobby space between. The bedrooms are tucked away behind thick plywood walls, which contain joinery and robe space. Skylights scoop light into the long, thin floor plate, and allow for glimpses to the bush and escarpment beyond.
Hideaway House borrows its material palette from the spaces downstairs, using a combination of black, white and timber tones. A new staircase, composed of slender steel rods and timber treads, links upstairs with down. It reads as a fine, delicate sculpture in the space below.
